Accessing the Past

About this collection

Accessing the Past Digital History Collaborative (APDHC) is a cooperative partnership covering Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley with the Palm Springs Public Library, the City of Palm Springs, the California State Library and other community partners. The Coachella Valley has a long, rich and varied history. Crossed by the San Andreas Fault, home to the indigenous Cahuilla people and well-known as an international resort destination, glimpses of the past abound in the Coachella Valley. From the Mid-Century Modern designs of Neutra, Wexler and Frey to the faded glory of the Racquet Club to the trails of Indian Canyons, the past is all around us. Accessing the Past strives to make our history digitally available to anyone—anywhere in the world—via our collections online. From Palm Springs High School Yearbooks to a peek into the star-crossed revelry of the Starlite Room of the Chi-Chi club or the headline in The Desert Sun the day you were born, Accessing the Past actively collects and publishes digital documents and artifacts that represent the heritage of the Coachella Valley and Palm Springs—so dive into our heritage and uncover your story.
This collection contains 109 issues comprising 17,566 pages.
